Another Rotation

The atmosphere around here is definitely autumnal.  My children started school.  My house smells of apples.  The air is crisp and bright and full of promise.

Full of promise and full of reflection.  This is my new year, which means I look back a little and forward a lot.

The last rotation of this pretty blue world around the sun brought a year of strengthening, learning, grace and humility.  Illness does that, and thankfully recovery retains it.  The year held many beginnings - notably the incredible reality of Guitar Mama Showcase, and my acoustic duo, hummingBird.  More community built around sound; deep and strong because of that foundation.

Looking ahead, I am excited for where those projects will go and, as ever, I am giddy about the new choir year.  It's going to be great!  As I do every year at this time, I encourage you to try something new and don't be afraid to laugh at yourself on the journey.  Laughter is important.

But so is silence.  And this morning with my children safely dispatched to their respective institutions of learning, I have silence for the first time in two (plus) months.  I shall pour a cup of coffee, tend my house, and plan....

Hi Sue- Mark Staniforth here. Hope all is well with you-  Just this morning I was driving down the highway randomly searching the radio waves for songs worth listening to. As usual I was lamenting the fact that I did not like what I was hearing- Then I hit upon a song about a little bird and I thought to myself - If only music on the airwaves could meet this standard.
I am a fan for life of who ever it was because I did not know- Honestly the song totally grabbed my attention- The vocals were beautiful and guitar work was really creative. The radio jockey of course announced who had created this little gem.
Well it was you! Good work  to you and your partner-
                                                                                           A new fan

Sue:

This is a voice from your past at time in youth group at Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham, NY.  I am now the Membership Secretary and am working on moving the paper records to electronic, and updating at the same time (when possible).  Records show that you became a member of Calvary in 1991 when you completed Confirmation, and there is no record of your membership being transferred to another church (nor ended another way).  If you would like to transfer your membership, I can give you information on how to proceed with that, or if you want to be removed from our records (by request), just send me a note that is how you would like me to proceed.

Wish you the best,
Karla Smith
